Episode 23 of the Yale Press Podcast is now available

YUP023AYUP023BIn this episode, I speak with Godfrey Hodgson about how the idea of American exceptionalism developed and its pros and cons and I speak with Eric J. Sundquist about the themes and rhetorical tropes found in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream Speech".
For those deeply interested in the minutae of how the show is put together, Gordon Buffonge was supposed to conduct the Hodgson interview, but the largest December snowstorm in Portland history meant he couldn't get over to the studio, so I pinch hit, thanks to his extremely thorough notes!

Episode 23 runs 36:30 and can be heard by clicking here.
